About The Position

Dawes Rigging and Crane Rental, located in Madison, WI, is seeking a dedicated Aerial Lift Service Technician & Mechanic. This full-time, non-exempt position is ideal for individuals with hands-on experience with aerial lifts and scissor lifts, although training may be provided for the right candidate. The role involves a variety of responsibilities including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of all makes of aerial boom and scissor lifts. The technician will be expected to diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify components as necessary, ensuring that all work meets safety requirements and industry regulations. In this position, the technician will read, understand, and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings. A positive interface with service writers, supervisors, the parts department, and customers is essential. The technician will also be responsible for preparing proper documentation of actions taken during service and repairs. The ability to work with diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting and repairs is crucial, as is maintaining conformity to safety requirements and other regulations. The role requires a strong background in diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Candidates must possess a basic set of mechanic's tools and demonstrate strong initiative, with the ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. The technician must be able to work safely around moving machinery and in conditions with marked changes in temperature and humidity. Additionally, the ability to safely operate complex construction equipment and lift up to 50 lbs is required. Manufacturer's training will be an integral part of this position, and applicants must be willing to learn new computer, electronic, and hydraulic systems, follow evolving safety guidelines, and remain certified in various aspects of the field such as assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting.
