About The Position

Service Technician I Job Summary: The Technician Service I is an entry-level position responsible for removing and replacing parts on transit buses in accordance with service manual guidelines, detailed work instructions, or verbal direction from mentors or supervisors. This role supports the OEM service and warranty team by assisting with pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and performing basic repairs. While the position offers opportunities to develop mechanical and electrical skills, it may also involve repetitive tasks related to warranty campaigns or product updates. Essential Duties: Remove and replace mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components following detailed work instructions Assist with basic repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, structural, or hydraulic systems. Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, workspaces, and equipment. Support senior technicians with diagnostics and more complex repairs. Document work performed, parts used, and service notes accurately. Follow all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures. Learn and apply basic troubleshooting techniques under supervision. Use basic hand and power tools to perform work safely. Travel Requirement: This role requires regular travel, including air travel, to customer sites, vendor locations, or company facilities. Approximate travel: 50% of the time. Must maintain all necessary identification and documentation (e.g., valid driver’s license, government-issued ID, or passport) to travel by air for work. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in vehicle service work. Willingness to learn and follow instructions. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to use common hand tools and safety equipment. Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment. Education, Experience, and/or Required Licenses: High school diploma or GED required. Technical training or vocational certification in automotive, diesel, or industrial systems preferred. 1+ years of relevant mechanical and electrical repair experience required. While we do not typically hire at the top of the salary range, initial offers are based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience, with opportunities for growth and increases over time. The hiring range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00 per hour.
