About The Position

Are you an experienced Electric Power Generation (EPG) Field Service Technician looking for a rewarding career with a reputable company? Milton CAT is seeking a skilled technician for an in-field position within our Power Systems Division. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, recondition, overhaul, and maintain customer and company engines and power generation equipment. This is a field-based position that requires regular travel to customer locations to perform on-site diagnostics and repairs. You’ll enjoy a dynamic work environment with opportunities for emergency calls and routine service beyond the normal work schedule. Pay Rate: $37.89 - $47.49 an hour based on location, education and experience. This is a union position. Why Milton CAT? Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3 years of electrical power generation/electronics experience working on CAT diesel and natural gas engines and/or similar competitive equipment, including medium voltage equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair CAT power systems equipment and components in the field.
  • Mastery level CAT Electrical Power products and in-depth skills of low and high voltage electrical, electronic systems and components, and CAT switchgear.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer and related software (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and be detailed oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Able to lift 75 pounds; up to 45 pounds on an unassisted basis, repetitively.
  • Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations.
  • Ability to work in the field without supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced service environment.
  • Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.
  • Operate and maintain field service vehicle with GVW of less than 26,000 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • DOT certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in a related field.
  • Experience with CAT Electronic Technician and SIS programs.
  • CDL A or B is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot engine and electrical systems, transfer switches, UPS, and switchgear systems.
  • Remove, disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Diagnose problems and causes of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
  • Determine reusability of parts in accordance with published Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
  • Order replacement parts ensuring that parts ordered are correct and complete at the time of order.
  • Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
  • Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components.
  • Prepare, inspect, and operate machines prior to delivery.
  • Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies, and systems.
  • Prepare inspection and appraisal reports.
  • Prepare accurate and complete service reports timely.
  • Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance.
  • Flexible to work after hours when needed to meet customer needs.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
