About The Position

The Service Technician at Elder Ford of Tampa is responsible for performing automotive repairs and services in accordance with store and factory standards. This role requires a skilled individual who can diagnose and resolve various automotive problems swiftly and accurately. The Service Technician collaborates with all service personnel and management to ensure customer satisfaction. Reporting directly to the Service Manager, the technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality and efficiency of the service department. In this position, the technician will perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, adhering to both Lithia and manufacturer standards. Responsibilities include diagnosing the cause of malfunctions, completing all work according to applicable safety requirements, and road-testing vehicles to ensure the quality of repairs. The technician is also responsible for accurately recording time spent on repairs and documenting work performed on repair orders, including test procedures and results. The Service Technician must maintain an inventory of normal mechanic's tools and ensure that special tools are returned to their proper places. An organized and clean workspace is essential, with daily stall cleaning required. The technician is expected to ensure that customers' vehicles are returned in the same clean condition as they were prior to service. Continuous training is a key aspect of this role, as the technician must acquire and maintain manufacturer and ASE certifications by completing necessary training. Effective communication with other dealership personnel is vital to meet customer needs and report any safety concerns. Personal grooming and uniform standards must be maintained according to departmental policies, and the technician is expected to adhere to designated work hours and break times as set by management. This position requires a strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and excellent communication skills, along with the ability to self-motivate and adapt to change.
