About The Position

This position involves reading gas meters for residential, commercial, and industrial customers, recording readings for billing purposes, and observing and reporting any abnormal, dangerous, or damaged conditions related to gas meters and adjacent areas. The role may also include performing basic service and/or construction work as qualified and required, and training entry-level Meter Readers. Additional responsibilities include identifying and addressing safety and encroachment issues, ensuring the safe operation and inspection of assigned company vehicles and equipment, and adhering to the company's values, strategies, policies, and procedures. Familiarity with the Safety Manual and completion of all required safety training is essential.

Requirements

• Requires a general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
• Requires a valid driver's license.
• Must obtain and maintain Operator Qualifications (OQs) and classroom training for the position and any other required OQs and classroom training.
• Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers to obtain and/or provide basic types of factual information.
• Requires the ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Requires basic computer skills for data entry, reference, and/or retrieval tasks.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports atmospheric corrosion or damage.
• May perform basic service and/or construction work as qualified and required.
• Able to train entry-level Meter Readers.
• Identifies, addresses, and reports safety and encroachment issues.
• Responsible for the safe operation and inspection of assigned company vehicles and equipment.
• Demonstrates support for and adheres to the company's values, strategies, policies, and procedures.
• Becomes familiar with the contents of the Safety Manual and maintains a safe working environment.
