About The Position

The Service Technician 3 position at TEC Equipment, Inc. is primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks. Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years practical experience in commercial 6 & 8 truck classes
  • Must have own hand tools
  • Highly proficient in the repair and diagnosis of all aspects of commercial trucks, including diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts & differentials, electrical systems, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems, steering systems, and brakes
  • High expertise in troubleshooting using diagnostic software
  • OEM Master Tech certifications & Cummins training preferred
  • Proficient computer skills to input vehicle maintenance records and utilize diagnostic software
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job (frequent lifting/moving up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, seeing, grasping, hearing, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain predictable and reliable attendance and work in a safe and alert manner
  • Valid driver's license and able to meet insurance requirements; CDL license preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and repair vehicles to proper operating condition
  • Perform advanced repairs and replace major components such as radiators, valve adjustments, and turbos
  • Rebuild or repair major components such as transmissions, gear plates, and block reconditioning
  • Perform entire engine overhauls including replacing heads, rods, and main bearings
  • Troubleshoot and perform complex wiring repairs and diagnose and repair any electronic issues
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance services
  • Identify worn and damaged parts, repairing, adjusting, or replacing as needed
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area
  • Meet shop quality and efficiency standards
  • Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs
  • Follow all state and federal vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards; follow company policies, procedures, and safety and EPA regulations
  • Use all safety equipment necessary for the job
  • Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications
  • Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
