About The Position

Join the Vallen team as a Service Tech II - Safety. Under the direction of the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, the safety technician will inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state and federal safety policies and regulations. Responsibilities also include documenting safety inspections, reviewing safety procedures, citing dangerous areas, and recommending corrective procedures.

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • Minimum 1-5 year related experience
  • Experience with Dow safety policies and procedures
  • Experience with Olin safety policies and procedures
  • STS or higher certification level
  • Completed OSHA 10 Hour
  • Strong communication skills
  • Hazard recognition, safety training, regulatory, and standard interpretation
  • Productivity minimum of 90% (maintained)
  • Current Motor Vehicle License with good driving record
  • Commercial Drivers License required if carrying loads of hazardous materials
  • Proficient with hand tools.
  • Able to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment in a timely and accurate manner

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all jobs is executed in compliance with EHS rules and guidelines.
  • Coaching safety behavior mindset and/or enforcing site Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections/audits to ensure all unsafe acts and conditions are immediately addressed.
  • All hazard assessments and permitting requirements are being followed.
  • Inspecting and controlling housekeeping
  • Extended periods of time out in the field walking throughout assigned process areas and as needed climbing stairs/ladders to elevated work areas.
  • Informing the Area EHS Coordinator about the results of the safety inspections/audits and any observed deficiencies and means for correcting.
  • Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen.
  • Able to provide assistance, advise and training to Vallen associates and plant personnel.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with order fulfillment if needed.
  • Keep all certifications and licenses current and renewed by completing continuing education as required.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process and quality instructions).
