About The Position

The Start-Up & Commissioning Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing commercial HVAC-R equipment. The role includes start-up, commissioning, adjusting, repairing, modifying, and replacing HVAC equipment, including inter-connecting piping, electrical, and control wiring. Effective communication and proper documentation with excellent file management skills are essential. This position serves as an extension to the service department, with all correspondence and scheduling managed from the Catonsville office.

Requirements

• Technical school graduate or successful completion of an HVAC Apprenticeship program.
• HVAC Journeyman and/or Masters license.
• Universal CFC Certification.
• Minimum of 5 years of commercial HVAC experience at the Journeyman level.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, service, and repair commercial HVAC-R equipment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, service, repair, and troubleshooting of commercial HVAC equipment and systems.
• Perform installation of HVAC equipment.
• Conduct start-ups on new and potentially old equipment.
• Commission HVAC equipment and document all processes.
• Assist with quality control of projects.
• Accurately estimate time and material requirements for repairs.
• Maintain a complete set of necessary tools and demonstrate proficiency in their use.
• Follow all safety practices and adhere to safety-related protocols.
• Complete neat, detailed, and accurate service reports and submit them in a timely manner.
• Interact routinely with clients and conduct self-study to improve technical proficiency.
