The Service Spares Planner Buyer is responsible for planning and purchasing third‑party products and accessories from strategic suppliers to support Sales, Service and our global distribution centers. The role manages purchase order end-to-end process to maintain strong On‑Time Delivery (OTD) to the end customer, communicates issues proactively across the organization, and applies Lean ways of working as part of daily operations. This position reports to the Manager, Global Spares & Consumables and is part of the Global Spares & Consumables team located in the Redwood City, CA, and will be an on‑site role. As part of a global team, this role interacts frequently with Sourcing, suppliers, freight forwarding partners, our external warehouse, Finance, and Customer Service cross through various time-zone. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Execute the global supply plan for an assigned portfolio, from planning through procurement, ensuring adherence to global On‑Time Delivery (OTD) targets. Actively Resolve ad hoc operational issues through cross‑functional collaboration, including US inbound receiving discrepancies; partner with suppliers, 3PL warehouse teams, and Finance to clear accounts payable exceptions. Prioritize and expedite daily shortages to meet customer requirements; adjust commits promptly, manage due dates in the ERP, and communicate changes to stakeholders. Own reverse logistics investigations (e.g., returns, RMAs, repairs); reconcile open issues with strong attention to detail and drive closure with root‑cause actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or Master’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business Administration or other field OR equivalent experience
  • Several years of experience in a Buyer, Planner, Logistics, or Supply Chain role.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle or a comparable ERP system, including planning, purchasing, and product lifecycle modules.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with inventory planning tools such as Baxter Planning or Prophet.
  • Ability to travel - 5% travel nationally and internationally

Nice To Haves

  • Power Query/Power BI (or basic SQL) for data preparation and ad‑hoc analysis.
  • ASCM/APICS coursework (e.g., CSCP or CPIM) or equivalent supply chain certification.
  • Spares & consumables planning for service operations (analytical instruments/medical devices/industrial equipment) and familiarity with ISO 9001 environments
  • Experience in an international organization, preferably within a production and B2B environment.
