Knowledge & Technical Skills Solid understanding of residential plumbing systems, including water supply lines, drainage systems, venting, and gas piping Proficient in diagnosing leaks, clogs, low water pressure, fixture failures, and equipment malfunctions Skilled in repairing and installing faucets, toilets, sinks, water heaters, garbage disposals, and other plumbing fixtures Ability to interpret blueprints, building plans, and technical diagrams Knowledge of local, state, and national plumbing codes, along with strong adherence to safety standards Comfortable using plumbing tools such as augers, drain snakes, inspection cameras, soldering torches, and pipe-threading equipment Experience Prior experience as a residential service plumber (2+ years preferred) with a track record of performing accurate repairs and successful installations Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving plumbing issues independently Background working directly with homeowners or clients, providing professional communication and customer service Proven ability to complete service tickets, estimate materials, and manage time across multiple jobs per day Experience working in crawl spaces, attics, tight areas, and varying residential environments Abilities & Attributes Strong problem-solving abilities with the patience and skill to identify root causes and implement lasting solutions Detail-oriented approach to repairs, ensuring accuracy in leak detection, fixture placement, sealing, and system testing Self-motivated and dependable, capable of working independently without constant supervision Excellent communication skills — able to explain repairs, present options, and ensure customer understanding Physically able to perform demanding tasks including lifting 50+ lbs., climbing ladders, kneeling, bending, and working in varied weather conditions High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to quality workmanship Safety-focused mindset with consistent use of PPE and proper procedures Additional Requirements Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Ability to pass background and drug screening (if required by company policy) Willingness to participate in occasional on-call rotations, if applicable Familiarity with mobile dispatch systems, service apps, or digital ticketing tools (preferred but not required)
