About The Position

As a Service Plumber III, you'll operate as a journeyman-level expert in commercial plumbing service, independently diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and installing plumbing systems across diverse facilities including hospitals, schools, offices, industrial sites, and multi-family/commercial buildings. With mastery knowledge of hydronic, domestic water, drainage, medical gas, and related systems, you'll lead complex service calls, mentor junior plumbers, and deliver high-quality, code-compliant solutions that ensure reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction. Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive hands-on commercial plumbing service, repair, installation, and maintenance experience; journeyman-level proficiency in diagnosing and resolving advanced system issues independently.
  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid journeyman plumber license (or ability to obtain in assigned jurisdiction); backflow prevention certification preferred; medical gas certification (if applicable); valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding/stairs, work in confined spaces or at heights, bend/kneel/crouch, reach overhead, and use tools/equipment for extended periods; frequent standing, walking, manual dexterity, and physical stamina required.
  • Mastery-level troubleshooting and repair across commercial plumbing systems (hydronic, domestic, drainage, medgas, backflow).
  • Proficiency with plumbing tools, pipe threading/cutting, pressure testing, leak detection, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent customer service, communication (verbal/written), problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
  • Code compliance (IPC/UPC), safety leadership, documentation/reporting, and independent decision-making.
  • Team collaboration, multitasking, and ability to work under pressure in dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

  • Independently diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex commercial plumbing systems, including pipes, fittings, fixtures, boilers, hydronic heating, domestic water, drainage, backflow prevention, medical gas (medgas), and associated controls/valves/pumps.
  • Perform advanced service and installation work: fixture replacements, pipe rerouting, leak detection/repair, pressure testing, system flushing, pump/motor servicing, and emergency response.
  • Lead service calls from start to finish: assess on-site issues, communicate clearly with customers on problems/solutions/timelines, coordinate parts/materials, execute repairs, and follow up for satisfaction.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, system inspections, water quality testing, backflow certification support, and efficiency assessments to minimize downtime and extend system life.
  • Ensure all work complies with plumbing codes (IPC/UPC), local regulations, manufacturer specifications, and Modigent safety/quality standards.
  • Document service activities in detail (work orders, reports, photos, as-builts, recommendations) and maintain accurate records for billing, warranty, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide daily guidance, training, and direction to junior plumbers (Levels I–II); demonstrate techniques, share best practices, and promote safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas, vehicles, tools, and PPE; adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
