The Service Maintenance I employee performs a variety of tasks in maintaining and improving the Zoo's buildings and grounds. Essential Functions: Removes trash from waste receptacles. Maintains/supports recycling efforts. Operates cardboard baler as needed. Removes trash, leaves, branches and other debris from the buildings and grounds. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains public restrooms according to procedures, standards and frequency, as directed. Cleans and maintains public areas in buildings as assigned, i.e. vacuuming, dusting, carpet cleaning, mopping, window washing, etc. Stocks restrooms and storage closets with janitorial supplies. Properly maintains and operates housekeeping and painting equipment such as ladders and scaffolds, buffers, scrubbers, carpet extractors, and various hand tools etc. Paints, coats and/or refinishes as assigned. Removes snow and de-ices walkways, paths and building entrances. Performs plowing and salting to cover night events and safe access through the park. Sets up and takes down tables, chairs, etc. for meetings, parties, and events as assigned. Moves furniture, files, cabinets and supplies etc., as directed. Operates tow motor/forklift to move cardboard bales and cover warehouse needs. Installs/replaces paper towels, soap, toilet paper dispensers as assigned. Provides work direction to seasonal employees, as assigned.
