About The Position

We provide industry-leading, end-to-end fire protection, mechanical, and HVAC services. Our skilled tradespeople work in virtually every market across the nation. The position involves providing excellent service to customers by assisting the Senior Service Designer, service design staff, and Service Manager. The role requires working within NFPA standards to create and draft sprinkler designs while achieving annual company objectives and personal performance goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in Fire Protection design is required.
  • Engineering background is a plus.
  • Some mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Hydratec CAD, and stock listing programs is required.
  • NICET Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a sprinkler drawing as detailed in most current NFPA standards documentation.
  • Identify the building construction type as identified in most current NFPA standards documentation.
  • Identify types of hazards and the appropriate protection for it.
  • Familiarity with a project budget and ability to work within it.
  • Coordinate work with other trades on non-complex projects.
  • Understand and resolve coordination problems.
  • Effectively design a project, including cutting pipe with all appropriate fittings.
  • Select all required materials for installation.
  • Operate present version of AutoCAD and all current AutoCAD tools.
  • Coordinate pipe drawing, heads, hangers & other sprinkler components critical to design.
  • Conduct a field survey alone or with others to obtain all proper dimensions and information.
  • Correctly project hours, installation, field survey results, etc. for a project.
  • Meet industry quality standards in producing drawings, hydraulic calculations, material pick offs and material submittals for a project.
  • Develop a complete material submittal that meets industry standards.
  • Correctly complete project paperwork, such as test papers, insurance permits, punch list.
  • Identify what is in contract vs. what is not in contract and alert appropriate personnel in writing.
  • Troubleshoot and identify potential problems before they manifest.
  • Order all materials necessary to complete a project.
  • Communicate in face-to-face meetings with customers providing accurate and thorough information.
  • Have complete knowledge of all applicable fire codes, including NFPA 13.
  • Take on the role of project leader, directing other team members in completing projects efficiently and accurately.
  • Give regular, complete, and professional status reports to the Service Manager.
  • Work with other departments to service customers.
  • Operate at all times in compliance with the company's safety practices.
