About The Position

Requirements

• Must have or be able to obtain a valid Driver's License within 30 days of hire.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of forest management.
• Knowledge of collecting and analyzing forestry data.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats.
• Ability to be self-motivated, a team player, and remain calm under stress.

Nice To Haves

• Wildland Firefighter II qualified under National Wildfire Coordinating Group standards.
• Experience with prescribed fire.
• Experience in public speaking.
• Knowledge of forested wetland and water quality regulations.
• Experience in management plan writing.
• Familiarity with mapping grade GPS units and ArcMap GIS software.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze forest data to provide technical advice to landowners.
• Write management plans for non-industrial private forest landowners.
• Interact with consulting foresters and other land managers for technical assistance.
• Conduct environmental compliance inspections related to forestry activities.
• Respond to emergencies such as wildland fires and natural disasters.
