About The Position

The estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely service quotes for industrial pump repairs. This role bridges technical insights from teardown inspections with commercial responsiveness, ensuring clear, consistent proposals are delivered to the sales team and followed through to customer approval. Working side by side with the Shop Planner, the Estimator supports the repair workflow from quoting to execution and serves as a backup for planning tasks. The role also collaborates with the Shop Manager on continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing turnaround time and increasing process reliability.

Requirements

• Mechanical or technical background in rotating equipment or industrial service
• Experience with quoting, estimating, or job costing
• Strong attention to detail and follow-up discipline
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., P21)
• Ability to work independently while staying aligned with team priorities
• Effective communicator with a collaborative approach

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate repair quotes using teardown reports, inspection photos, historical jobs, OEM documentation, and parts data
• Include labor, materials, and subcontracted services in the quote using internal and external sources
• Coordinate with mechanics and the Shop Manager to clarify technical aspects
• Align with the Planner and Expeditor on lead times, availability, and scheduling priorities
• Deliver quotes promptly to the sales team and provide support for customer inquiries
• Maintain quote templates, pricing data, and repair scope records
• Track quote status and follow up regularly with the sales team regarding customer POs
• Participate in weekly job status meetings to stay aligned with shop workload and priorities
• Identify common repair trends and suggest proactive stocking or pricing strategies
• Support improvement activities with the Shop Manager to streamline the quoting process
• Serve as backup for the Shop Planner during absences or high workload
