Caterpillar is hiring a Service Engineer to lead the parts authorizations process for all Building Construction Products (BCP) New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and accelerated CPI parts stocking or availability timelines to meet customer back needs. Role Summary This role includes development to become a subject matter expert on NPI parts processes, parts serviceability levels, initial parts stocking and regional stocking volumes. Working with global teams to ensure all BCP NPI programs achieve NPI the required parts stocking levels to meet approval to ship targets. Also, the role would enable parts stocking process excellence for customer back critical Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects.

Requirements

  • Customer Focus Communicate the importance of customer needs/expectations and commits to resolving them. Research and verify customer needs and expectations. Solicit customer satisfaction feedback and act on improvement opportunities. Help link organizational objectives to customer needs and expectations
  • Effective Communications Deliver helpful feedback Listen to feedback and uses it for own communication effectiveness. Make oral presentations and write reports needed for own work. Avoid technical jargon when inappropriate. Look for and consider non-verbal cues from individuals and groups
  • Relationship Management Provide prompt and effective responses to client requests and interactions. Monitor client satisfaction levels on a regular basis. Alert own team to problems in client satisfaction. Differentiate the roles and responsibilities in a business relationship. Work with clients to address critical issues and resolve major problems
  • Strategic Thinking Explain how a sense of competition with industry counterparts can motivate greater productivity. Identify the key elements of the business strategy. Demonstrate the ability to articulate how own work supports the business strategy. Seek help to clarify elements of the strategy that are beyond the group's influence

Responsibilities

  • Develop appropriate procedures and plans to ensure product quality and evaluate results to identify functional deficiencies, correcting design flaws as needed.
  • Evaluate production processes to identify defects in manufacturing and design.
  • Modify designs to maximize production efficiency and product quality.
  • Solicit and gathering internal and external feedback to identify potential new products and/or improvements to existing products that improve product serviceability.
  • Write technical specifications and instructions to ensure product quality and performance.
  • Track and manage the status of projects from inception to release.
