About The Position

The Service Engineer provides technical support via telephone or computer and leads improvement initiatives related to the hardware, software and/or communications on all components of Rain Bird Pump Systems, Central Control software, and other advanced irrigation products. This role involves a combination of remote diagnostics, technical project work, customer support, and in‑person training delivery.

Requirements

  • S. Degree in Engineering or technical field, plus 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills
  • excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaborate both with co-located and remotely located colleagues.
  • Understanding of integrated mechanical and electrical systems

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Spanish or other foreign language(s)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • S. Degree in Engineering or technical field
  • Direct customer service and technical support experience
  • Experience with programming to include Programmable Logic Controller code
  • Irrigation and golf course service and Irrigation Central Control programming experience
  • Background in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Experience with personnel management and project management

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality technical phone support to customers, distributors, and field personnel.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis of issues and implement corrective actions
  • Identify, document, and execute quality improvement and process improvement projects, including development of technical training material
  • Complete assigned projects and report summaries of work completion to management
  • Ensure all phone support and projects meet Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot pumps, motors, filters, VFDs, PLCs, radios, modems, and irrigation components (valves, rotors, electronic controllers, flow sensors, etc.)
  • Remotely support technicians during installation, maintenance, or repair projects
  • Prepare and conduct classroom environment training at Rain Bird in Tucson, AZ, as well as remote locations as needed.
  • Track, report, and follow-up on product and technical issues using established processes.
  • Participate for one week at a time, approximately once per quarter, in the 24/7 on-call phone support rotation
  • Travel up to 10% for field service support and relationship outreach with customers, distributors, and contractors.
