About The Position

The Service Dispatcher (Elevator and Escalator) is responsible for coordinating maintenance and repair crew assignments for elevators and escalators. This role involves monitoring operations, receiving service requests, and dispatching service crews to ensure timely repairs and maintenance. The dispatcher plays a critical role in maintaining safety and efficiency in elevator and escalator operations within the WMATA system.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a call center environment with dispatching work assignments.
  • At least three (3) years of experience generating and preparing data analysis reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in Information Technology, Business Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in emergency dispatching and response coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the operation of elevators and escalators using remote monitoring and camera networks.
  • Receive failure reports and service requests, and input data via computer terminals.
  • Assign maintenance record numbers for tracking purposes and dispatch service crews to repair sites.
  • Document procedures and observe the performance of equipment and employees against established standards.
  • Communicate with Rail Operations Information Center (ROIC) and Maintenance Operations Center (MOC) dispatchers to improve response times to emergencies.
  • Assign and dispatch personnel and equipment to restore malfunctioning elevators and escalators.
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of data entered into the asset management system (Maximo).
  • Coordinate support activities for access to ELES equipment by maintenance branches or contractors.
  • Report significant events impacting revenue service or safety to ELES management staff.
  • Maintain contact with maintenance personnel for outage reports and job status logs.
  • Develop and maintain a roster of radio call numbers and contact information for ELES staff.
  • Track personnel and equipment working in the WMATA system to ensure operational continuity.
  • Direct scheduled or corrective maintenance actions to appropriate ELES supervisors.
  • Review open work order tickets and coordinate with ELES supervisors to resolve outages.
  • Document delivery of parts and supplies to field locations in the asset management system.
