About The Position

Position Purpose: In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Service Coordinator provides administrative and clerical support to designated areas; assists in the planning, development, implementation and coordinator of equipment, supplies and environmental issues; functions within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the Organization What you will do: · Exhibits each of the Mount Carmel Service Excellence Behavior Standards holding self and others accountable and role modeling excellence for all to see. Requirements

  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent
  • Effective Communication Skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • Experience in inventory, budget and cost control systems preferred
  • Evidence of effective clerical and computer skills preferred
  • Self motivated, independent worker with multi-tasking abilities

Responsibilities

  • Assists with administrative activities necessary for supporting the department including office organization, filing, typing, and routine departmental administration.
  • Maintains all department databases, files, and records.
  • Takes minutes in staff meetings and committees.
  • Prepares service-related reports and proposals.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains an inventory control system for department supplies/equipment which will include:
  • Maintaining an inventory control system for ordering routine stock items.
  • Ordering routine stock and special supply items.
  • Checking/stocking ordered supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains purchase order requisitions and capital item requisitions.
  • Takes responsibility to facilitate improvements in patient services, staff/physician relationships, and the working environment.
  • Coordinates service requests, telephone requests and information to customers using appropriate forms of communication (e.g. electronic mail, voice mail, written correspondence, meetings, etc.).
  • Acts as a resource person for the Unit Director/Director, Physicians and staff regarding environmental/resource aspects of department operations.
  • Completes environmental rounds monthly and submits reports as directed.
  • Monitors supply rooms for organization, appropriate par levels, and accurate stocking.
  • Coordinates service requests with appropriate departments (Clinical Engineering, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Telecommunications, etc.)
  • Collaborates with Unit Director/Director in the management of financial resources including:
  • Reviewing and updating department charges and initiating new charges as appropriate.
  • Collaborating with Financial Services and Materials Management when appropriate.
  • Utilizes appropriately and demonstrates continuous learning.
  • Attends required in-services, workshops, retreats, staff meetings.
  • Participates in and fosters a performance improvement approach that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities.
  • Responsible for compliance with Organizational Integrity through raising questions and promptly reporting actual or potential wrongdoing.
  • All other duties as assigned.
