There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.
As a Service Consultant Summer Intern at CenterPoint Energy, you will receive comprehensive training to prepare you for your responsibilities, which will be supervised as you progress. This internship serves as a single point of contact for customer distribution projects, encompassing the management of customer account relationships, overseeing project management from inception to completion, and ensuring the development, reliability, and maintenance of the distribution system. You will be tasked with analyzing, designing, and preparing structural and electrical specifications and work orders, aligning resources to meet customer service commitments, and leading teams to address customer needs effectively. In this role, you will collaborate with multiple departments, customers, municipalities, outside consulting firms, and other utilities to gather essential information to execute projects accurately and in a timely manner. You will also work closely with elected officials and employees of city, county, and state entities to ensure effective service delivery to customers. Your responsibilities will include gathering project information, preparing estimates, and analyzing data to design electrical and/or gas distribution facilities. You will represent the company in service extension negotiations related to service locations, ensuring that customer obligations are met, negotiating and securing payment for projects, and researching easement rights while maintaining construction completion within specified timeframes. Additionally, you will identify and evaluate pre-existing issues related to compliance with governmental regulations, code violations, and CenterPoint Energy standards. Corrective actions may require negotiation with customers regarding safety, cost, and legal responsibilities. You will review facilities for compliance with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), as well as state, city, and county governmental ordinances and CenterPoint Energy standards, necessitating a working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC). Field inspections may be required for final project approval, foreign cable attachments, customer-installed facilities, and miscellaneous customer requests. Participation in CenterPoint Energy's Emergency Operation Plan (EOP) is also required, which may include extended working hours and travel to other CenterPoint Energy Distribution Centers.
