About The Position

As a server at Alexander’s Restaurant, you play a key role in creating memorable dining experiences for every guest. Guided by our company’s Noble Purpose, your focus is to genuinely care for our guests and positively impact their time with us. You will ensure each guest enjoys an exceptional dining experience through a high level of service, attention to detail, and professional hospitality. All team members contribute to the restaurant's success through teamwork, friendliness, patience, selflessness, service, and pride.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of direct server experience in a fine dining or upscale restaurant or hotel setting is preferred
  • Proficiency in reading and communicating in English is required.
  • Current certification in a nationally recognized program concerning service of alcohol or the ability to obtain upon being hired is required.
  • Must possess superior food knowledge to include varied ingredients, preparation techniques and cuisine styles; must have prior experience in pairing food with wine, spirits, beer, etc.
  • Must have prior experience in up-selling and be able to inform guests of dining options resulting in a memorable dining experience.
  • Must be physically able to meet the demands of the position such as carrying/lifting heavy trays during service; walk/stand for extended periods of time while of shift; must be able to climb/descend stairs with trays, etc. while on shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds is required.
  • Previous knowledge of touch screen POS system is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; College preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • ServSafe Alcohol Training Certificate and License required, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit strong menu, beverage, and wine knowledge.
  • Adhere to all state liquor laws.
  • Ensure adherence to all state health regulations.
  • Keep the chefs and managers informed of any issues that might affect quality of service or timing.
  • Completion of all side work as required.
  • Perform additional responsibilities to help the dining room function efficiently.
  • Able to multi-task and handle high volume service demands.
  • Adhere to all company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure the timing and flow of service is correctly paced.
  • Handle all opening and closing duties required to operate the restaurant, and ensure that all stocking is done, tables are properly set, and the dining room is clean.
  • Communicate all necessary and important information with the Food and Beverage Management Team.
  • All other duties as assigned.
