About The Position

The server is a critical role within Aspira Hygate Waterloo Retirement Living, impacting the lives of residents and fostering human connection. This temporary part-time position involves building lasting relationships with residents, knowing them not just by name, but by story. Requirements

  • Must have the Smart Serve designation OR Serve It Right (SIRS) designation (for Saskatchewan locations)
  • One year experience in dining room service
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team
  • Proven customer service skills to work with residents of various cultural backgrounds
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills required
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
  • Must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check

Nice To Haves

  • Safe Food Handling Certification preferred
  • Experience working with seniors and knowledge of the aging process an asset

Responsibilities

  • Support residents’ health and well-being by assisting with meal preparation and service
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and pleasant dining experience every day
  • Be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day
  • Responsible for all aspects of hospitality style dining service utilizing the Ready, Set, Serve Program as it applies to the serving areas, setting, serving and cleaning tables
  • Assists with the preparation and presentation of food under the direction of the Chef
  • Practices and maintains established standards for cleanliness and sanitation throughout all aspects of food preparation and service as required by the health department
  • Promotes and tracks a la carte and wine service sales in accordance with prescribed procedures
  • Complies with all provincial regulations, established food and beverage department policies and procedures and ORCA standards to ensure the department is tour ready
  • Participates in drills to prepare for emergencies and attends all education sessions in relation to emergency preparedness
  • Work in accordance with the organization’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
