About The Position

The Server role at Denny's involves providing attentive service to guests from their arrival to payment processing. Key responsibilities include accurately taking and relaying orders, promptly delivering food and beverages, and utilizing upselling techniques to recommend menu items and specials. Servers are also expected to engage guests by offering confident menu recommendations, inviting them to join the Denny’s Rewards Program, and explaining its benefits. Maintaining a clean dining environment and collaborating with both front-of-house and back-of-house team members are crucial for ensuring smooth service.

Requirements

Experience as a Server, Waiter, Waitress, FOH Staff, or in customer service preferred
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Confidence in upselling, menu recommendations, and guest engagement
Basic math and cash-handling skills
Must be 18+

Responsibilities

Welcome guests and provide attentive service throughout their visit
Take orders accurately and relay them clearly to the kitchen
Deliver food and beverages promptly and correctly
Use upselling skills to recommend specials, combos, and popular menu items
Ask guiding questions to help guests make selections (e.g., “Would you like to add a side or are you ready for dessert?”)
Offer confident menu recommendations based on guest preferences
Invite guests to join the Denny’s Rewards Program, explaining benefits such as exclusive offers, birthday treats, and earning points toward free meals
Maintain a clean, organized dining room
Process payments efficiently (cash, card, digital)
Work collaboratively with FOH and BOH team members to ensure smooth service
