  • Keep all kitchen equipment and prep/serving areas clean and organized.
  • Plan and follow a cooking schedule to ensure meals are ready on time.
  • Maintain food quality and safety by regularly checking temperatures and tasting dishes.
  • Set up food on steam tables and restock as needed during service.
  • Follow portion control guidelines during meal prep and serving.
  • Check and properly use leftover perishables from the fridge and freezer to minimize waste.
  • Jump in and help with other kitchen duties as needed.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a restaurant or institutional kitchen setting.
  • Strong communication skills — comfortable interacting with coworkers, residents, and family members.
  • Ability to respond professionally to questions or concerns from both inside and outside the organization.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Solid math skills to handle measurements, portioning, and basic calculations.
  • Able to make routine decisions that support the day-to-day needs of the department.
