About The Position

The Post Oak Hotel is seeking a Server Sommelier to join the only Forbes Five-Star Hotel in Texas. We hire passionate and professional colleagues who genuinely delight our guests through curated and authentic experiences. The Server Sommelier serves as a steward of the guest journey, seamlessly integrating food & beverage refined service standards with advanced wine expertise to anticipate needs, curate thoughtful pairings, and confidently articulate the nuances of each wine selection and food menu. Beyond the dining room, the Server Sommelier upholds the hotel’s operational standards by supporting inventory integrity, accurately documenting inter‑outlet transfers, and participating in monthly inventories

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate is organized, detail oriented, and possesses an eagerness to learn.
  • 3-5 years in a fine-dining service environment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays is required
  • Physical demands: Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 35 lbs without assistance Assist with moving, lifting, carrying, and placing of objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers preferred.
  • Previous hotel experience, luxury or Forbes experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Works on the floor during restaurant hours, guiding guests through the beverage offerings and executing wine service.
  • Maximizes wine revenue through attentive, guest-centered salesmanship.
  • Assists in keeping the cellar clean and organized during service hours.
  • Assist the service staff and management team with basic restaurant tasks when necessary, maintaining cleanliness of work and guest areas by clearing, collecting and returning food and beverage items to proper area.
  • Retrieve menu items from other outlets on property
  • Assists the Beverage Director in routine inventory.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures
  • Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries, complete safety training and certifications
  • Responsibilities include complying with all federal and state laws, including the FLSA tip regulations regarding tip reporting, sharing, and minimum wage requirements
