Waiters and waitresses have a wide variety of tasks to perform during their work shift, including checking customers’ identification to ensure that they are of legal age to consume alcohol. Furthermore, waiters and waitresses must write down, memorize, and properly deliver sometimes complex orders for the kitchen staff to ensure that customers are getting the exact orders that they ask for. They also must seat customers upon entering the restaurant, and then memorize their seating location and be prepared to attend to them throughout their visit.
