About The Position

The position involves providing prompt and courteous service to dining guests at the Mohonk Mountain House during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special functions, adhering to the standards set by management. The role requires coordination with kitchen and dining staff to ensure efficient restaurant operations, as well as a thorough knowledge of menu items to assist guests effectively.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Knowledge of hospitality and experience in food and beverage service.
• TIPS or other state-recognized Alcohol Awareness Training Certification preferred.
• Servsafe or other industry-recognized safe food handling certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, courteous service to dining guests.
• Work in coordination with kitchen staff and other dining room staff.
• Learn standard menu items to describe them to guests.
• Provide recommendations for enhancing guest satisfaction.
• Open wine bottles and champagne table-side.
• Take and receive food and beverage orders from guests.
• Enter guest orders in a POS system, including special requests.
• Anticipate guest needs and meet them proactively.
• Answer guest questions accurately and engage with them.
• Negotiate stairs while carrying full trays.
• Work under crowded and noisy conditions.
• Handle dishes and glassware carefully.
• Provide proper service while serving wines and champagne.
• Set and reset tables with appropriate items.
• Clean before, during, and after service.
• Assist in the setup and breakdown of special functions.
• Work productively with or without supervision.
• Assume responsibility for equipment and supplies.
• Adhere to dress and grooming standards.
• Inspect work for cleanliness standards.
• Communicate clearly in English with guests and staff.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting and walking.
• Act calmly in emergency situations.
• Analyze problems and implement action plans.
• Wear approved safety shoes and equipment.
• Learn historical facts about Mohonk Mountain House.
• Demonstrate service steps and strategies.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule.
• Perform basic mathematical functions.
• Maintain confidentiality of guest information.
• Operate vehicles safely in compliance with traffic rules.
