About The Position

Harbor’s Edge is a premier 5-star Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) nestled along the beautiful Elizabeth River in Norfolk, Virginia. Our resort-style community features 300 Independent Living residences, a 33-bed Skilled Nursing Unit, a 40-bed Assisted Living Unit, and a 34-bed Memory Support Unit. We’re proud to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Senior Living Awards, including honors in categories such as Independent Living - Activities & Enrichment, Feels Like Home, and Food & Dining. We’re currently seeking friendly, professional, and service-driven wait staff to support our exceptional dining and catering operations. Enjoy riverfront views and a supportive, team-oriented environment. Shift: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM (Full-time employees receive a break between 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM)

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • One (1) plus year of serving experience preferred - we’re happy to train the right candidate!
  • Food Handler’s Card required (training provided).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and customer service skills.
  • A heartfelt passion for making a positive difference in the lives of older adults within a supportive CCRC community.
  • A current COVID-19 vaccine is preferred in support of our commitment to resident and staff well-being.
  • Must possess the physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform a wide range of physical activities, including sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, turning, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, reaching overhead, pushing/pulling, and grasping with both hands.

Responsibilities

  • Set and maintain clean, properly arranged tables with correct place settings.
  • Serve meals promptly and accurately with a courteous, professional demeanor.
  • Clear tables, clean dining areas, and reset for next service.
  • Support service during special events and functions.
  • Cultivate positive, respectful relationships with residents and guests in alignment with the community’s high standards for care and service.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures.
  • Operate POS system with accuracy.
  • Maintain a cheerful, helpful attitude at all times.
