About The Position

Endurance IT Services is seeking an experienced Server Engineer to design, build, and support enterprise server environments that power business-critical systems for a client in Newport News! This role focuses on server infrastructure, virtualization, storage, and performance, working closely with networking, security, and cloud teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and security.
This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in both technical work and strategic infrastructure improvement.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise server infrastructure
• Strong experience with Windows Server and/or Linux
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies
• Solid understanding of storage concepts (RAID, SAN, NAS, snapshots)
• Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP
• Experience with system monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain Windows and/or Linux server environments
• Manage virtualization platforms (VMware)
• Administer and optimize server storage solutions (SAN / NAS)
• Perform system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
• Monitor server performance, availability, and capacity
• Troubleshoot complex server and storage issues across environments
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
• Collaborate with network, cloud, and security teams on infrastructure projects
• Document system configurations, procedures, and architecture
• Support on‑prem, hybrid, and cloud-integrated infrastructure environments
