About The Position

The Server Assistant is tasked with supporting the dining team in curating exceptional guest experiences. This role blends efficiency, attention to detail, and impeccable service standards to ensure a seamless and elevated dining environment. The Server Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining the flow of service, anticipating guest needs, and upholding the luxury standards of the hotel. Key responsibilities include resetting tables, refilling water and beverages, clearing used items, and assisting servers with food delivery and guest requests. The ability to work quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining consistency and professionalism is critical. This position requires a strong “client first” mindset and a background in foodservice or hospitality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • All food employees must obtain a valid Food Handler Certification within 60 days of hire in accordance with Texas Food Establishment Rules.
  • Employees involved in alcohol service must obtain TABC Certification prior to performing alcohol-service duties.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a hotel, country club, or fine dining environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of wine, spirits, and mixology, including beverage “call names” and standard recipes.
  • Familiarity with responsible alcohol service guidelines and food handling/safety procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow general instructions in standard situations.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English; Spanish-speaking ability is a plus.
  • High level of customer service orientation with the ability to engage and connect with a diverse guest population.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to guest service.
  • Positive, professional demeanor and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to stoop, stand, reach, and frequently lift food and beverage items.
  • Willingness to work extended periods without relief, as needed.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a busy bar setting and assisting servers as needed.
  • Team members are required to adhere to all uniform, grooming, and hygiene standards, including wearing appropriate attire, hair restraints, and maintaining personal cleanliness.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position.
  • Work may involve exposure to heat, high-volume service periods, standing for extended periods, and repetitive motions.
  • Team members must follow all safety protocols when handling cleaning chemicals, detergents, and sanitizers, and adhere to OSHA and HACCP standards.
  • The Employee may be required to work offsite or attend special events, catering functions, or hotel-related activities as needed.
  • Hotel Granduca Houston operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Scheduling may vary based on operational needs, including shifts, start times, and total hours worked per week.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Expertly support servers by promptly clearing and resetting tables according to hotel standards and guest preferences.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of dining room layout, table assignments, and service flow to anticipate team needs.
  • Ensure that all tableware, glassware, and linens are clean, polished, and properly placed.
  • Assist in delivering food and beverages to guests, ensuring accuracy and elegance in presentation.
  • Monitor and refill water, coffee, and other non-alcoholic beverages throughout service.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked service station at all times.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including proper handling of food and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and hosts to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Participate in pre-service meetings and briefings to understand menu highlights and service priorities.
  • May require shift work, overtime, and/or on-call duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
