About The Position

Server assistants, who are also called assistant servers, food runners, or bussers, are people who help with the running of food and servers in restaurants and are an integral part of a restaurants Team. The job of a server assistant involves removing the dirty glassware, silverware, and plates after use by guests, help with restocking of product, removal of any garbage as well as assisting with food and beverage delivery. Everything else left on the table by the guests must also be removed. After doing this, they will have to rearrange the table in conformity with the in-house standards of the restaurant, by setting up plates, glasses, and any new utensils that have been left there before the table was used.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Restaurant experience preferred.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, club events, most holidays and Club Black Out Dates.
  • Demonstrates ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must possess a valid food handlers certification or must be able to obtain a food handlers certification prior to employment.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to communicate with individuals from different backgrounds.
  • Must possess organizational skills
  • Must possess the ability to adapt in a changing environment.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • All offers of employment are based upon satisfactory completion of background check.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares dining areas for patrons by cleaning tables and/or clothing tables; setting decorations, condiments, candles & heaters, napkins, service plates, and utensils.
  • Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation and safety policies.
  • Maintains menu presentation by keeping menus clean; replacing damaged or soiled pages; cleaning chalkboards; lettering specials on chalkboards.
  • Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
  • Supports servers by setting-up and replenishing condiment stands, trash containers liners, and bus stations.
  • Assisting servers with delivery of food to tables.
  • Closes dining facility by cleaning chairs and tables; sweeping, mopping, and/or vacuuming floors; removing trash and recyclables from the facility.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in staff training opportunities including menu knowledge and service standards tests.
  • Observe tables and take note of dirty, clean, and occupied tables
  • Assist with product upkeep and stocking.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Help with basic food prep as needed, and/or perform light cleaning in the dining, serving stations, or kitchen areas.
  • Handle tasks unsupervised, including being able to spot tasks that need to be done (even though they might not have been assigned by managers).
