About The Position

The Server Assistant supports our Culinary and Service teams in delivering refined, memorable dining experiences that reflect the beauty and spirit of Big Sur. This role ensures seamless service by anticipating guest needs, assisting servers, maintaining the dining environment, and upholding the luxury standards that define Alila Ventana Big Sur. Whether preparing a table for a sunset dinner, replenishing service items with quiet precision, or offering a warm smile that makes guests feel at home, our Server Assistants play a vital part in creating moments that linger long after a guest departs. This position also requires flexibility and a team-focused mindset, with the expectation of supporting other Food & Beverage service roles-such as Host, Food Runner, or Barback-when operational needs arise. Requirements

Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Warm, professional, and guest-focused demeanor
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Flexible availability for AM and PM shifts, including weekends and holidays
Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods, up to 8-10 hours per shift
Frequent lifting, carrying, and transporting of items up to 50 pounds
Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor dining environments
Ability to bend, reach, and move swiftly in a service setting

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in luxury hospitality or fine dining preferred

Responsibilities

Assist servers in delivering exceptional, timely, and anticipatory service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Clear and reset tables with precision, ensuring alignment with Forbes and MICHELIN service standards
Refill water, bread, condiments, and other guest needs promptly and discreetly
Maintain dining areas, ensuring they remain pristine, organized, and inviting throughout the shift
Restock and organize service stations, side work areas, and supplies to ensure uninterrupted service flow
Greet guests with warmth and professionalism, supporting a welcoming environment
Provide basic menu knowledge and coordinate with servers to address guest inquiries
Offer intuitive service by anticipating needs before being asked
Communicate clearly with servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth service flow
Assist with polishing glassware, silverware, and plateware to meet luxury presentation standards
Support event setups, private dining, and special culinary experiences as needed
Step into other F&B support roles (e.g., Host, Food Runner, Barback) when business levels require
Uphold and embody the standards that earned our resort its Forbes Four-Star rating and Two MICHELIN Keys
Maintain a polished, professional appearance that reflects the brand's commitment to sustainable luxury
