About The Position

The Server Assistant is the right hand of a server, providing a welcoming experience for guests by ensuring our restaurants and bars are kept clean throughout the day and set up properly. The server assistant works in a team environment to clear and reset tables quickly to maximize guest count and may also assist with delivering food & beverage to tables so service can be as prompt as possible. The server assistant will do various duties, e.g., filling bread baskets and water glasses. The Server Assistant is responsible for assisting in making guests feel welcome and comfortable in a clean dining environment. Primarily responsible for greeting and seating guests, running food to tables, assisting servers, clearing away dirty dishes after guests have completed dining/beverage experience in a timely manner. Will stock all utensils, equipment and beverages as needed for service. A flexible schedule with open availability is necessary.

Requirements

  • Customer Service experience preferred.
  • ServSafe Certificate or other appropriate alcohol service-related training preferred.
  • Knowledge of Food and Beverage procedures and serving standards.
  • Knowledge of Health Department rules and regulations.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English.
  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms, stand for long hours and walk long distances.
  • Ability to work long hours, some back-to-back shifts as needed.
  • Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels.
  • Oral and Written Comprehension and Expression - Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly in English.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a fully stocked, e.g., utensils, napkins, condiments, supplies, etc. of your assigned work area per departmental standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of table, seat, station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation and proper table set ups.
  • Greet guests in a timely manner with a gracious welcome, seating them according to the days seating plan.
  • Set up and empty trash receptacles following department specifications.
  • Prepare beverage stations as assigned.
  • Retrieve clean linen from Laundry and stock in the Restaurant.
  • Serve water, coffee, tea, and other designated non-alcoholic beverages to guests.
  • Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware and glassware.
  • Have full knowledge of the entire menu, as well as daily specials, desserts, etc.
  • Assist with serving food or beverages to patrons.
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters and clean in designated area.
  • Ensure compliance with all health & sanitation regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental S.O.P.s.
  • Ensure that all side work is completed before leaving property.
  • Other duties as required.
