The primary responsibility of the Server Assistant at Glorietta Trattoria is to facilitate food service. This includes setting tables, replenishing supplies of clean linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes, as well as serving food and beverages to guests. The role requires active engagement with guests to ensure their satisfaction and to address any complaints. The Server Assistant will also assist servers by serving food, organizing prep items, and ensuring that all necessary items are in place for service. Additional duties include polishing dishes and utensils, stacking dishes for return to stewarding, and maintaining communication with kitchen staff and management.

  • Speak with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service, respond to complaints, and make conversation.
  • Serve beverages, rolls, or butter to guests.
  • Serve food to guests when servers need assistance.
  • Organize prep items needed from different areas to ensure all items are in place and ready for service.
  • Examine trays to ensure that they contain required items.
  • Load trays with accessories such as eating utensils, napkins, or condiments.
  • Polish dishes, kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Place food servings on plates or trays according to orders or instructions.
  • Stack dishes for return to stewarding after meals are finished.
  • Actively look for ways to assist both guests and coworkers.
  • Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly and guest concerns are addressed.
  • Meet with supervisor to review assignments, anticipate business levels, changes and other information pertinent to the job performance.
  • Review status of work and follow up actions required with supervisor prior to leaving.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Food handler certification required.
  • Restaurant experience required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate preferred.
  • Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work cohesively with all levels of management, all departments and co-workers as part of a team.
  • Must have ability to listen to and communicate information to guests and coworkers in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Ability to be a clear thinker, remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment.
  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service.
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English.
