About The Position

The Sergeant position at the Bridgeport Correctional Center involves supervising and ensuring the safety and security of inmates while providing guidance and training to staff. The role is essential in maintaining order and adherence to regulations within the correctional facility, contributing to the rehabilitation of inmates and the overall mission of Management & Training Corporation (MTC).

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED) required.
• Two (2) years full-time, wage-earning correctional custody or law enforcement experience.
• A valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, protect, instruct, train, counsel, and evaluate assigned employees.
• Provide care, custody, and adherence to rules and regulations of inmates assigned to specific work areas.
• Supervise and provide custody and security of inmates, including observation of inmates assigned to work duty.
• Direct searches for contraband, including 'pat' and 'strip' searches.
• Participate in the interview and selection process of new employees, making recommendations for new hires.
• Transfer and transport inmates by walking or riding in vehicles, restraining and securing assaultive inmates as needed.
• Read, review, and apply information found in inmate records related to health, safety, and security.
• Supervise the preparation and maintenance of records, forms, and reports.
