The Sr. Principal Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman plays a critical role in the design and operation of the next generation ICBM weapon system. This position focuses on ensuring the safety and security of nuclear weapons against various threats, both in peacetime and wartime. The engineer will engage in systems engineering tasks, including requirement decomposition, technical planning, and integration, while collaborating with various defense departments to uphold safety standards.

  • Perform decomposition of Department of Defense safety manuals into requirements and allocate them to design teams for implementation.
  • Provide systems engineering expertise to the design, integration, and testing of a next generation ICBM weapon system.
  • Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, cost, risk, supportability, and analysis for mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems.
  • Evaluate the physical security design based on the Department of Defense Safety manuals.
  • Interface directly with various compartments of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy to ensure safe design and operation of nuclear weapon systems.
  • Use model based engineering tools on a major weapon system to pioneer a new way to evaluate and analyze modern design.
  • Learn a niche discipline that spans all aspects of Nuclear Power and Munitions.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or 6 years with a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline.
  • Experience with tools and languages such as DOORs, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, NX, Capitol.
  • Experience in systems engineering, nuclear surety, electrical or software analyses/test; verification of requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or software engineering discipline.
  • Active DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with tools and languages such as DOORs, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, NX, Capitol.
