About The Position

The Senior Work Leader / Quality Control Coordinator in the Custodial Services department is responsible for providing direction, leadership, and coordination of custodial work activities to maintain a clean and attractive environment for the Connecticut College community. This role involves performing routine inspections to ensure quality and APPA standards are met and enforced throughout the campus. The coordinator will also provide training and follow-up to ensure cleaning operations are standardized across the department, maintain equipment inventory, and ensure custodial cleaning closets are stocked and maintained according to applicable Federal, State, and Local standards. Additionally, the position includes providing event support as directed.

Requirements

  • Requires high school diploma and 2 - 5 years of progressively responsible custodial experience as a custodial work leader, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills, ability to speak, read, and write English and keep written and computer records.
  • The ability to speak Spanish is desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Well-organized, able to work under pressure.
  • Ability to interact well with a variety of people from all areas of the college and community.
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment, supplies and chemicals.
  • High integrity needed to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and develop custodial work leaders and custodians.
  • Provide direction to ensure departmental cleanliness protocols and standards are maintained and standardized while regularly inspecting spaces to ensure cleaning activities meet established standards.
  • Train employees on safe operation of equipment and use of chemicals.
  • Maintain inventories, including equipment; follow department protocols for ordering supplies and equipment, as well as equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure all work complies with federal, state and local requirements/regulations and College policies and procedures.
  • Supervise custodial support of campus events and other special services and be physically present for high profile events such as Commencement, Alumni Reunion weekend, student move-in, parents' weekend, etc.
  • Monitor employee attendance and performance.
  • Coordinate employee work schedules to ensure that manpower needs are satisfied and cleaning/maintenance schedules are followed.
  • Other duties as assigned or as necessary.
