About The Position

The Senior Well Test Operator is responsible for overseeing well test functions to ensure continuous production in accordance with established standards. This role involves participating in safety programs, maintaining equipment, conducting tests, and supervising crew members while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational procedures.

Requirements

  • 6 years of well testing oilfield experience
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents, professional journals, technical procedures and/or government regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals and effectively communicate/present information and/or respond to questions from managers, customers and the general public
  • Intermediate mathematical skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, etc.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to solve practical problems with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to take basic readings
  • Can fully operate and maintain well testing equipment and know how to troubleshoot his equipment
  • Must be able to pass competency exam
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Excel
  • Must be able to drive for Company business
  • Must be able to be on site 12 to 24 hours per day
  • Must understand, read, and write English

  • Knowledge of how to identify different meter runs
  • Knowledge of equipment spacing on location to ensure safe operations
  • Knowledge of how to maintain BP on the heater to prevent freezing problems upstream of heater without interrupting critical flow
  • Knowledge of how to operate a sand separator and knowledge of its purpose
  • Knowledge of how to operate the choke manifold and identify its components
  • Knowledge of how to repair plug valves, 2xl and 2x2, LT and TE
  • Must know assorted connections such as assorted flanges, their sizes and pressure ratings and stud size, assorted NPT connections and their ratings, assorted unions and their pressure ratings, 2" flow iron, elbows, tees and spare valves
  • Can fully operate and maintain a test separator and know how to troubleshoot equipment such as tear down and repair regulators, change out and replace assorted orifice plates, understand the Barton meter and its full purpose, adjust the dump valve controls and electronic meters, rebuild the dump valves, snubbing valves, and snap pilots, tear down and repair a Big Joe regulator, repair turbine meters, know how to use entire sensitivity control for the BP control, know how to trouble shoot the BP valve and repair it, inspect and adjust supply to all controls from the supply pot, know the limits of this piece of equipment and respect it
  • Can conduct assorted test such as GI, G5 and GlO on required wells and collect all necessary samples required by the railroad commission
  • Can conduct the following tests: Chlorides, H2O weights, pH, Stain tube test, CO2, H2S, Shrinkage factors, meter factors, GOR, Bbls/mm, Oil API gravity, identify color, Gal/Bbl-factor, Tubing and casing capacities, Bottom hole pressures, know factors for Bbls 1 ft, calculate gas rates from choke coefficient
  • Can identify the different abbreviations for oilfield terms
  • Can hook up and operate safety valve and controls, hi-lo controls on lease equipment and ESD valves

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assigned well test functions to ensure continuous production consistent with established standards
  • Participate and follow all Express and QHSE programs and procedures and inform crew of such procedures
  • Be responsible for entire job
  • Complete Warehouse Work (wash, paint, grease equipment; buff, grind)
  • General Housekeeping and Facility Maintenance
  • Equipment Maintenance
  • Rebuild Manifolds
  • Rigging Up and Rigging Down
  • Runs high profile, high pressure wells to include, gauging to tanks, collecting accurate data
  • Conduct tailgate safety meetings
  • Provides all necessary customer reporting prior to job completion
  • Sends out Company datasheets
  • Maintain Company datasheets (pressure, temperature, charts, tags, test reports, equipment status reports, etc)
  • Be available 24 hours per day while on duty
  • Respond to calls immediately
  • Be prepared to be called for work 24 hours per day as per location requirements
  • Be on time at base prior to going on jobs
  • Inform supervisor, in advance, of any situation that might prevent you from going on a job
  • Attend safety and technical classes as per company requirements
  • Keep your field training manual updated and maintained
  • If you live more than 30 minutes from the shop, carry your job bags with you at all times and always carry required equipment/necessities with you
  • Attend morning safety meeting
  • Attend JSEA requirements while doing the job
  • Wear required PPE
  • Use the proper tool for the job
  • Report dangerous situations and accidents immediately
  • Complete quality and safety observation card
  • Follow workshop instructions
  • Follow EES or client's safety procedures whichever is greater
  • Must follow Express Energy Services' integrity policy
  • Inform crew of safe and proper manner to rig up and rig down
  • Explain to crew job program and their individual duties on that job
  • Explain client requirements to crew
  • Supervise and inform crew in safe ways of loading and offloading equipment
  • Inform and train crew to take gas, oil and water samples when needed
  • Inform crew not to leave location without your permission
  • Train helpers to perform particular tasks
  • Inform helpers working with you of job procedures
  • Train helpers to redress all kinds of valves
  • Train helpers to calibrate instruments and equipment
  • Train helpers to take strap measurements of tanks as per company policy
  • Train assistants and operators to do testing calculations both manually and by computer and review assistant and operators calculations and paperwork
  • Supervise and train helpers to start up, maintain and troubleshoot operating equipment as per Express Energy Policy
  • Inform crew to conduct field analysis of well effluent as needed
  • Always keep helpers in your sight and under your supervision
  • Conduct CO2 and H2S testing
  • Has full responsibility for the job operation and other well test positions on location
  • Other Duties as Assigned
