Novarc Technologies is looking for a Senior Welding Engineer to join our growing team and support the production of our cobots. Summary: As a Customer Experience Senior Welding Engineer will provide essential support in the operation and maintenance of the SWR™ (Spool Welding Robot) at the Novarc Houston CXC. This role will involve customer demonstrations, maintaining the center's equipment, and supporting the Welding Application team's research and development efforts. Location: Customer Experience Center in Houston, TX (This position is not eligible for remote or hybrid work).

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Joining, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Welding Engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, SAW, etc.), metallurgy, and Nondestructive Testing (NDT) techniques.
  • Proven ability to develop, qualify, and implement new welding procedures and specifications (WPS/PQR).
  • Experience with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, AWS D1.1, API 1104).
  • Ability to manually tack and weld pipe with both GMAW and GTAW.
  • Ability to learn, adapt to, and implement new welding technologies and automation.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead and mentor junior engineering staff and welding technicians.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information.
  • Ability and willingness to get a valid forklift operator's license.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally for training purposes, product demonstrations, supplier visits, and facility support.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with robotic welding systems is a plus.
  • A valid Forklift License is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform customer demonstrations:
  • Set up and operate the SWR™ for new and prospective businesses and customers.
  • Set up and operate the NovAI system for new and prospective businesses and customers
  • Tack and fit coupon samples as needed.
  • Provide technical support and answer customer questions as needed.
  • Assist with post-demonstration tasks, such as cleanup and data collection.
  • Maintain the Experience Center:
  • Ensure the SWR™, NovAI system and other equipment are in proper working condition.
  • Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Keep the center clean and organized.
  • Support Welding Applications team:
  • Assist with testing and validation of new welding procedures.
  • Collect and analyze data as needed.
  • Provide general laboratory support.
  • Operate forklifts:
  • Safely operate forklifts to move equipment and materials around the Experience Center.
  • Adhere to all forklift safety regulations.
