Position The Senior Wealth Planner is an experienced tax and wealth planning professional who advises ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients on all aspects of their financial lives. In this client facing role, you will serve as the lead wealth planner for a select group of clients with ongoing financial planning needs, acting as their dedicated go-to advisor for comprehensive financial guidance. You will craft and implement bespoke wealth plans covering income tax optimization, cash flow management, estimated tax payments, multi-generational wealth transfer and estate planning, charitable giving, risk management, employee benefits, and overall financial strategy. As part of the Rockefeller Private Office team, you won’t operate in isolation – you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary group of experts (including CPAs, JDs, and CFP® professionals) to ensure our clients receive quality integrated advice. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Juris Doctor (JD), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial planning or tax planning, particularly for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net worth clients. Demonstrated success managing a portfolio of complex client relationships (e.g., maintaining 20+ client relationships on an ongoing basis) with a focus on clients in the $25MM+ net worth segment.
  • Tax planning, tax projections, wealth transfer strategies, financial planning. Comfortable developing strategies for income tax planning, trust and estate planning, charitable giving, life insurance and retirement planning, and related areas. Up-to-date understanding of relevant tax laws and estate planning techniques impacting UHNW individuals and their entities.
  • Strong project management, organization skills, and the ability to multitask and reprioritize within tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills on complex matters, both written and oral
  • Proficient in wealth planning software and tools (e.g., eMoney or similar platforms) to create detailed financial plans, projections, and presentations. Able to quickly adapt to new technologies and tools that enhance the planning process.

Responsibilities

  • Customized Wealth Planning on a Quarterly Cadence: Engage in deep discovery to understand each client’s values, goals, and complex financial situations. Develop and deliver highly customized wealth plans and quarterly client deliverables, including net worth analyses, cash flow projections, income tax projections and planning, and estate & wealth transfer strategies, ensuring advice is aligned with clients’ long-term objectives.
  • Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary financial planning advisor for a select portfolio of 20-25 UHNW clients (generally $25MM+ net worth). Maintain regular, proactive contact – including leading quarterly client meetings – to review plan progress, adjust strategies, and address new planning needs as clients’ lives and goals evolve. Act as the dedicated point of contact for all financial planning matters, including rapid responsiveness to client inquiries.
  • Collaborative Advisory Partnership: Partner closely with Rockefeller Private Advisors (financial advisors) to identify client needs and business opportunities. Work together to formulate and present integrated solutions that strengthen and deepen client relationships. Collaborate with internal specialists across the Rockefeller Private Office - you’ll be experienced and strong in a number of areas, and where you aren’t you’ll draw on your team members that include estate attorneys, tax strategists, investment professionals, insurance consultants, and family office service experts.
  • Comprehensive Planning & Advice: Design and implement strategies across all areas of wealth planning, such as cash flow and liquidity planning, risk management/insurance strategies, retirement and executive benefit optimization, income and estate tax mitigation, charitable giving plans, asset protection techniques, and intergenerational wealth transfer. Ensure each plan optimizes the preservation and growth of wealth across generations and addresses both personal and business considerations for entrepreneurial clients.
  • Client Presentations: Effectively communicate complex financial concepts in a clear, confident, and relatable manner. Present comprehensive wealth plans and recommendations to clients and their families in meetings, ensuring understanding and facilitating informed decision making. Tailor communication to be actionable and aligned with each client’s level of financial sophistication.
  • Follow-Through Collaboration: You follow through on the details/take things to fruition for the client working with internal and external partners including portfolio managers, trust services, legal counsel, accountants, and outside tax advisors to coordinate the execution of financial strategies.
  • Practice Development: Play an active role in the ongoing growth and innovation of the Rockefeller Private Office. Contribute to the enhancement of wealth planning processes, tools, and service offerings. Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives and help develop best practices that elevate the firm’s planning capabilities. Support marketing and business development efforts by representing the Private Office’s planning expertise in client events, seminars, and thought leadership content.
