About The Position

Arcadis is looking for a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer with a passion for process mechanical engineering to join our Resilience Water team in Western New York. Based in either our Buffalo or Rochester office, you’ll take the lead on transformative water and wastewater treatment projects that directly impact the future of our communities. As part of Arcadis' Resilience Global Business Area, your work will go beyond engineering—it will help solve some of the most pressing challenges of our time: climate change, urbanization, and environmental degradation. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of project development, from concept to construction. You’ll bring technical leadership, design expertise, and innovative thinking to projects that matter. Your work will include:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (or a related field)
  • 10 years of relevant engineering experience
  • A strong background in process mechanical engineering and experience managing water/wastewater projects.
  • Proven ability to manage tasks, lead project components, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information to clients, stakeholders, and peers.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in a related engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Experience in municipal water/wastewater design and construction management

Responsibilities

  • Driving Innovation: Lead the design and documentation of complex Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP/WWTP) projects, collaborating across disciplines to deliver cutting-edge solutions.
  • Leading Projects: Manage schedules, develop bid packages, and generate construction cost estimates to drive timely, cost-effective project execution.
  • Ensuring Excellence: Perform in-depth engineering calculations and analyses to ensure every solution is efficient, effective, and precise.
  • Collaborating Across Teams: Work closely with architects, engineers, and CADD/BIM designers to develop integrated, high-quality designs.
  • Maintaining Standards: Uphold rigorous quality, safety, and compliance requirements that align with Arcadis and client expectations.
