About The Position

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a talented Senior Water-Wastewater Engineer with a passion for water, wastewater conveyance, treatment plant evaluation, design, and construction. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an established career serving as a client-facing project manager on regional and municipal water and wastewater treatment projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to immediately contribute to an established and successful water practice in the Greater Philadelphia Area (Philadelphia, PA, Conshohocken, PA or Newark, DE) working on a diverse range of technically challenging water projects. Success in this role requires strong communication, comfort tackling diverse projects across differing industries, sincere motivation, eagerness to collaborate, and outstanding leadership, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education with an emphasis in water, wastewater, or another related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in PA, NJ, DE or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review.
  • Project management, planning, and scheduling
  • Water/Wastewater Treatment Design.
  • Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and PowerPoint)
  • AutoCAD Design, GIS
  • Data analytics and visualization (Excel, PowerBI, Bluebeam etc)

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of extensive project experience in municipal water, wastewater, and/or stormwater design, analysis, installation, inspection, and management in design within dense urban settings.
  • Strong knowledge of water/wastewater/stormwater design codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Strong communication skills in coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to accomplish assigned objectives.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment.
  • Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods.
  • Experienced technical writer.
  • Demonstrated experience developing engineering deliverables such as engineering reports, design drawings, technical specifications, and other detailed engineering deliverables.
  • Proven and demonstrated experience working on storm water, water, wastewater, or flood protection/resilience projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in projects and work streams, comfortable communicating with clients, understanding needs, and translating them into actionable deliverables.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex civil design projects from the planning through permitting and construction phases.
  • Manage multiple projects, creating team workflows to meet project timelines, while proactively managing scope and change requests.
  • Aid in business development opportunities by strategically developing financial and operational proposals, business strategies, innovative approaches, collateral and other drivers.
  • Seek to understand AECOM, the markets we play in and identify growth areas, explore how approaches commonly adopted by corporate strategy and design might inform value creation in the built environment.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex civil design projects from the planning through permitting and construction phases.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
  • Work with mid-level staff and lead multi-discipline project design teams virtually and locally.
  • Interface with client and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage civil and stormwater design and resiliency projects.
  • Coordinate projects with civil design and modeling teams.
  • Design pipe conveyance and modeling of collection systems.
  • Develop and review design and construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Oversee and prepare engineering reports and documentation.
  • Prepare engineering services proposals, fee estimates, and schedules.
  • Stay current on industry trends and advancements in design and engineering.

  • Forward-planning in scoping, developing and resolving work plans and schedules.
