About The Position

Dewberry is currently seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to work with our Transportation Group in our Baltimore, MD office. The Senior Water Resources Engineer will be responsible for the technical review of hydraulic and hydrologic (H&H) engineering studies, client liaison with communities involved in floodplain studies, and the provision of floodplain and floodway submittals. The Senior Water Resources Engineer will also be responsible for providing modeling of floodplains and floodways utilizing watershed modeling programs such as FESWMS, RMA-2, FEQ, SWMM, XP-SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS and TR-20. The Senior Water Resources Engineer will be responsible for reviewing new hydrologic and hydraulic computer models for their technical accuracy and compliance with FEMA requirements. The Senior Water Resources Engineer will act as a resource and mentor for more junior staff working to constantly improve the overall quality of Dewberry Flood Study deliverables. The Senior Water Resources Engineer will also be expected to be an active participant in the flood management community, working to enhance Dewberry’s reputation, and solidify our place as a market leader. Requirements

  • A Masters degree in Surface water modeling or similar discipline, a PhD is highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in hydraulic and hydrologic (H&H) modeling
  • Extensive experience with at least 3 of the following engineering modeling programs: FESWMS, RMA-2, FEQ, SWMM, XP-SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS and TR-20
  • A Professional Engineer license (PE)
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)
  • Experience Mentoring Junior Engineering staff
  • A track record of active participation in the flood management or water resources community including published papers, presentations, and active organizational membership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program, including Flood Study Reviews preferred
