About The Position

Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to work on major infrastructure projects primarily within 60-mile radius of the Seattle Metro. Current projects have a solid construction schedule from 3 to 14 years long. The Senior Construction Inspector will provide construction oversight on large-scale public works projects, focusing on civil; structural; mechanical; and electrical components for major water and wastewater facilities and conveyance systems. KJ will assist you in relocation costs.

Requirements

  • 10-20 years of experience in inspection of structural; mechanical; electrical; and civil components within water and wastewater treatment plants and conveyance systems to include but not limited to new and renovation of concrete/masonry/steel structures; pumps; boilers; digester and propane gas systems; heat recovery system; building cranes; sliding gates; HVAC; Variable frequency drives; fans; process and cooling pipe systems; switchgears; transformers; UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) batteries; washer/classifier; grit system components and piping; fire alarm systems; and heaters.
  • Experience in water and wastewater pipelines, pump stations, water or wastewater treatment plants, and similar systems related to municipal infrastructure is preferred.
  • This position requires that you are onsite full time Monday-Friday. Must be able to work in a construction environment with limited amenities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on King County and Seattle Public Utility projects is a plus.
  • Certifications related to safety and trenchless applications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily onsite oversight of contractor activities under the supervision of the Construction Manager/Resident Engineer.
  • Perform daily field inspections to ensure installations, repairs, and replacements of mechanical/electrical/structural/civil components within water and wastewater treatment plants and conveyance systems.
  • Provide field inspections to ensure construction components comply with contract requirements, safety standards, and applicable permits.
  • Prepare daily written reports detailing work progress, labor, equipment, and force accounts.
  • Track contractor's schedule compliance, specifically related to project milestones.
  • Initiate written/verbal communication between project stakeholders regarding all activities.
  • Coordinate meetings with contractors, clients, and staff to address work progress.
  • Conduct quality control inspections of electrical/mechanical systems, wiring, and control installations as well as quality control inspections during commissioning and training of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Actively participate in problem solving regarding construction work on complex projects.
