About The Position

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Senior Wastewater Project Engineer/Manager for our Seattle office. As part of our design and process teams, you will be involved with a wide range of wastewater infrastructure projects. This will encompass all phases of design, including conceptual/feasibility evaluations, project management, preparation of design reports, permitting, development of construction drawings and specifications, and support of construction services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience.
  • PE required with ability to obtain registration in other States.
  • Experience serving as Project Manager, Design Manager and Project Engineer with full technical responsibility for planning, coordination, and execution of tasks for small and large projects.
  • Multiple years following PE licensure of documented design experience for water/wastewater facilities projects.
  • Experience in planning, design and construction of wastewater treatment infrastructure including developing technical treatment strategies, selecting treatment processes, developing process design criteria, and delivering projects.
  • Experience in preparation of contract specifications and drawings.
  • Development and review of technical reports, proposals, contract documents, resources studies, and data analysis.
  • Office and field engineering support during construction.
  • Possess strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.
  • Effectively and proactively coordinate with various disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, model, plan, design and support startup and operation of public sector wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Prepare facility assessment and design reports.
  • Review and direct junior staff in performing design calculations, process and/or hydraulic modeling, selection and sizing of equipment, preparing design documents and construction documents.
  • Support construction phase services both in office and in the field.
  • Lead business development activities including preparation of proposals and presentations.
  • Work with local and regional staff to grow the wastewater practice in the Pacific Northwest.
