About The Position

Seeking a highly skilled Senior VMware Engineer with specialized expertise in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to support Department of Defense (DoD) networks. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in virtualization technologies, a deep understanding of VMware solutions, and a proven track record of delivering secure, scalable, and high-performance virtual environments in a DoD setting. This role requires a Secret clearance and a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in virtualization.

Requirements

  • Must have 18, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience.
  • Must have 10, or more, years of experience in virtualization technologies, with a focus on Azure Virtual Desktop and VMware products.
  • Must have expertise in VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon (VDI), and associated tools in enterprise environments.
  • Must have a strong understanding of DoD network architectures, security protocols, and compliance requirements.
  • Must have the proven ability to design and manage large-scale virtualized environments with high availability and performance.
  • Must have 1, or more, VMware certifications (e.g., VCP-DCV, VCP-DTM, VCAP, or similar).
  • Must have experience with additional virtualization or cloud platforms (e.g., Hyper-V, AWS, Azure).
  • Must be familiar with automation tools (e.g., PowerCLI, Ansible) for managing virtual environments.
  • Must have experience supporting DoD or federal government contracts.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage VMware-based virtualization solutions, with a focus on VDI deployment and optimization within DoD networks.
  • Configure and maintain VMware vSphere, Horizon View, and related technologies to support mission-critical operations.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD security standards, including STIGs, and implement robust security measures for virtual environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to virtualization, VDI performance, and network integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning.
  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior engineers and IT staff.
  • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to maintain operational continuity.
