About The Position

The Visual Merchandising function is responsible for creating inspiring, premium and elevated consumer experiences and presentations for the Nike brand across the North America geography. The VM team works collaboratively across brand and business partners to develop product journeys, visual presentation strategies, styling direction as well as playbooks and training modules that create a distinct point of view for the brand at retail. This team also works directly with business, operations, and design functions to develop, drive, and scale new concepts / retail expansion across the marketplace. The VM team’s success is amplified by a connected network of world class talent across WHQ, territories, key cities, and in-store. This is a home office-based position in Los Angeles, CA. A typical week is 4 days in the store and 1 day in your home office. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are looking for curious, driven and passionate individuals who love retail and understand the power of well thought out and executed in-store visual presentations. This role plays an integral part in ensuring the brand priorities and presentation strategies & standards are implemented consistently across the marketplace! This candidate needs to be able to think strategically through both brand and business lenses and translate WHQ direction in a compelling way to inspire territory & store teams and to ensure flawless execution. We are looking for someone who is a proven people leader, has strong communication and influencing skills, and is results and solution oriented! WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON A typical week consists of regular store visits and connections with territory and store teams to ensure consumer experiences are implemented/adapted, aligned with brand expectations/standards and drive expected financial and productivity results. Ongoing team & talent development, as well as the deployment of VM training curriculum, play a large role in the continued growth and elevation of the team. You will work closely with WHQ VM partners to share feedback and best practices related to what’s working/not working and define opportunities for future seasons.

Requirements

• Possess a clear passion for the art and science of visual merchandising and styling (curation, styling, color usage, etc.)
• Passion for team leadership, people development and coaching, and mentoring a diverse team of talent
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Design, or related field; will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
• At least 5 years of experience in retail marketing, visual merchandising, product merchandising, or directly related experience
• Extensive visual background with previous experience in a retail environment
• Demonstrated experience crafting engaging and inspiring in-store displays (footwear and apparel experience is preferred)
• Ability to create unique presentation solutions for various retail environments that inspire the consumer, drive sales, and align with the Nike brand voice
• Knowledge of current retail landscape and the latest trends and innovations for retail
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills (experience with influencing others and negotiating are preferred)
• Confident presentation and digital literacy with command of Outlook calendar, Excel, PowerPoint, and Keynote (Mac proficiency strongly preferred)
• Light lifting; product, fixture & mannequin movement can be expected as part of this role
• Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time
• Ability to work irregular work hours beyond 8:00am-5:00pm, as required

Responsibilities

• Develop a clear territory strategy for VM and product presentation regarding priorities, service levels, and expectations with strong communication skills to manage across functions, territory, and Geo
• Indirectly manage a team of in-store visual specialists / managers, setting goals that link to overall brand and business priorities. This will entail coaching, development, helping with hiring decisions, driving performance management, and recognition / rewards
• Develop and foster strong collaboration with Retail District Directors and field leadership, Geo VM, Loss Prevention, and other cross-functional business partners
• Monitor territory execution to ensure Visual Merchandising & Styling standards are met and consistent while facilitating the reporting process for the Territory VMS team to the Geo VMS leadership team
• Ability to scale presentations (small-large) with a balance of retail theatre & commercial drivers
• Create consumer journeys with impact, an eye for editing and bringing details to life (an eye for curation)
• Deep understanding and execution of color usage and creating highs & lows
• Storytelling through the art of mannequin styling and prop usage (an eye for Styling is critical for this position)
