About The Position

Overview Sullivan Healthcare Consulting is a team of seasoned, leading edge perioperative experts who help healthcare organizations manage to higher margins by optimizing surgical services. The SHC process is simple: assess and benchmark all perioperative services and their interdependencies, clearly identify what isn’t working, build consensus for a best-practice based solution, and help all stakeholders work together to correct it. Sullivan’s recommendations are always realistic, achievable and sustainable over the long haul. The successful candidate for this position must be a highly motivated, metric-driven, experienced senior perioperative consultant who can drive the company’s sales of hospital perioperative consulting projects to new clients. The Senior Vice President, Perioperative Consulting will help define the company’s overall strategies and tactics for new markets and growth opportunities, help build and lead the marketing and sales infrastructure, manage communications (publications, public relations, and marketing-related presentations), and monitor and analyze sales and marketing activity against goals.

Requirements

  • Candidates should have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in a health or business related field.
  • All candidates must be able to fulfill E-verify requirements.
  • Significant history of success in perioperative consulting sales and project direction with a focus on hospital operating room and ambulatory surgery consulting.
  • Minimum of 5 years as an active perioperative consultant.
  • Expert at developing proposals, negotiating, structuring sales quota goals and revenue expectations, and planning marketing strategies.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to meet people where they are, assess their needs, and provide solid direction and support throughout the change process.
  • Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team environment and motivate teams to deliver quality work within tight time frames.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Ability to sell new projects and simultaneously manage several existing projects.
  • Successful associates in this position must be able and willing to travel nationwide up to 90% of the time.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.
  • Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two-digit numbers; ability to use decimals and compute ratios and percentages.
  • Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; to read at a slow rate; define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation.
  • Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and using adjectives and adverbs.
  • Ability to communicate in complex sentences; using normal word order with present and past tenses; using a good vocabulary.
  • Competent in the use of MS Word and Excel.
  • Be familiar with and can learn applications such as financial applications and other company applications and systems required by job content.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and deliver best-in-class perioperative transformation service line, ensuring high-quality implementation and sustainable results.
  • Identify and develop potential clients, achieve new and add-on sales revenue exceeding $3 million annually, and build and maintain strong relationships with new, current, and former clients that will assist in meeting the company’s financial goals.
  • Ensure best in class project implementation through effective leadership of project teams and continuous improvement of consulting approach and methodologies.
  • Direct and manage four to five large perioperative assessments and implementation projects simultaneously and ensure adherence to project budgets.
  • Develop, maintain, and apply perioperative assessment and implementation project tools and work plans, including a Perioperative Assessment Guide outlining benchmarks for perioperative staffing by area, sample documents, interview guides, and other related materials to ensure consistency, efficiency, and high-quality client deliverables.
  • Provide orientation and mentoring, and coaching to new and existing consultants to ensure consultant growth and development that will result in effective delivery of SHC’s assessments, performance improvement initiatives, and interim leadership engagements.
  • Maintain a billable presence of at least 50%.
  • Assist with corporate budgeting, marketing, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Assist with the development and coordination of company sales and marketing functions, including researching and implementing strategies to identify marketing opportunities, direct marketing efforts, and support new project development, under the direction of the president.
  • Represent the company as a speaker at national and international meetings focused on surgical services.
  • Represent the company with authoring journal and periodical articles relating to perioperative performance improvement.
  • Work with company leaders to develop one- and five-year business plans for the company.
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range sales and marketing departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures under the direction of the president.
  • Attends meetings as required (both virtually and/or in-person as required). Examples include mandatory internal meetings as needed and required, as often as monthly or quarterly, in-person meetings with clients, conferences, events, seminars, etc.
