Plante Moran Living Forward (PMLF) is searching for a Senior Vice President (SVP) of Development who’s excited to make a difference. The SVP of Development is a senior executive responsible for leading PMLF’s development advisory and owner’s representation engagements. This role blends institutional‑level development experience with strategic leadership, client advisory, and business development. The ideal candidate is a seasoned capital execution leader with a demonstrated ability to handle large projects, manage sophisticated stakeholders, solve complex entitlement and construction challenges, and serve as an executive advisor. About Plante Moran Living Forward Plante Moran Living Forward (PMLF) is a DBA of Realpoint, LLC (PMR), an affiliate of Plante Moran, PLLC. PMLF brings together a team of experts focused on improving the quality of life and places of care for our nation’s seniors. As a trusted development advisor, we specialize in addressing the evolving real estate, development, and construction needs of senior living communities. We help clients understand market need, determine the scope and feasibility of their capital projects, and oversee the design and construction process. Ideally, you'd be based in metro Chicago, ready to hit the ground running with occasional overnight travel (up to 25%). Experience with senior living providers is a plus. Requirements

  • 12+ years of real estate development, construction, owner’s representation, capital execution, or investment experience.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills, with demonstrated credibility at the board and C‑suite level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Finance, Architecture, Construction, or related field obtained from an accredited college or university.
  • Proficient in MS Word & Excel; Project and/or Primavera Scheduling Software.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects throughout their lifecycles simultaneously while maintaining exceptional client service.
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency and to drive consensus.
  • This is an exempt position, so you may have to work hours that exceed the standard 40-hour work week.

Responsibilities

  • Development Management & Owner’s Representation Lead execution of large, multi‑phase, ground-up developments in senior living.
  • Direct project performance from entitlement through completion, including design management, schedule control, and budget governance.
  • Oversee multidisciplinary teams of developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and specialty consultants.
  • Ensure all projects deliver on time, on budget, and aligned with client mission and financial objectives.
  • Executive-Level Client Advisory Act as a trusted senior advisor to client executive teams, boards, and other key stakeholders.
  • Guide clients through complex investment and development decisions, including entitlements, financial feasibility, capital structuring, and risk management.
  • Deliver high-quality executive reporting, scenario analyses, and strategic recommendations.
  • Capital Planning & Investment Strategy Oversee financial feasibility for new developments, redevelopments, and acquisitions.
  • Advise clients on JV structures, public/private partnerships, debt strategy, equity strategy, and lender compliance.
  • Strategic Leadership & Practice Growth Serve as a senior leader within PMLF, contributing to strategic planning, service line expansion, and revenue growth.
  • Build and maintain C‑suite relationships with senior living operators, health systems, lenders, and institutional capital partners.
  • Lead business development efforts, cultivate new opportunities, and shape go‑to‑market strategies for large-scale developments.
  • Team Leadership & Talent Development Mentor and develop project managers, analysts, and consultants across the PMLF practice.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, accountability, and transparent communication.
  • Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives and strengthen internal development processes.
