WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR The Senior Vice President (SVP), Cyber Risk is a senior client-facing and market-facing leader responsible for the design, placement, and execution of cyber insurance and related technology risk solutions for complex middle-market and large-enterprise clients. The individual in this role combines deep technical cyber expertise, carrier negotiation, and strategic advisory capabilities, while serving as a senior resource to producers, account teams, and practice leadership. The SVP partners closely with CISOs, Risk Managers, Legal teams, and Executive Leadership of Relation’s clients to translate cyber risk into effective risk transfer strategies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in insurance brokerage, underwriting, or specialty risk advisory with a focus on cyber insurance placements.
  • Property and Casualty License from state of domicile is required and must be maintained.
  • Proven experience placing complex cyber programs and advising senior client stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of cyber insurance markets and underwriting practices.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required to maintain effective relationships with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors and others.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word).
  • Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Strong ability to listen, discern, prioritize, and negotiate with clients and insurance carrier representatives based on a deep understanding of relevant issues.
  • Ability to evaluate and make decisions, recognize potential conflicts and observe appropriate precautions.
  • Ability to function effectively under tight time constraints, consistently meet strict deadlines, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
  • Ability to travel as required by business need.

Nice To Haves

  • Four-year degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Economics or other related field preferred.
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or RPLU preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership for the placement of complex cyber insurance programs, including primary, excess, and integrated technology risk coverages for sophisticated and multinational clients.
  • Partners with executive stakeholders (CISOs, CIOs, Legal, Risk Management, and Boards) to evaluate, quantify, and clearly articulate cyber risk exposures and risk transfer strategies.
  • Leads end‑to‑end renewal and marketing strategy, overseeing underwriting submissions, driving competitive carrier engagement, negotiating terms and pricing, and delivering executive‑level client presentations.
  • Cultivates and leverages senior relationships with domestic and international cyber insurers to optimize capacity, structure, and coverage outcomes.
  • Maintains deep subject‑matter expertise in underwriting appetite, market capacity, pricing dynamics, regulatory developments, and evolving cyber policy language.
  • Serves as a senior escalation and decision point for highly complex placement, coverage interpretation, and claims‑related issues.
  • Acts as a trusted technical and strategic advisor to producers and account teams, influencing program design and supporting high‑value new business and retention efforts.
  • Shapes and advances cyber practice standards, best practices, and differentiated client deliverables to enhance consistency, quality, and scalability.
  • Leads client and prospect engagements, including cyber risk assessments, solution positioning, and executive‑level discussions.
  • Partners with practice leadership to drive growth initiatives, carrier strategy, and broader market-facing cyber risk solutions.
  • Performs other projects, duties, and tasks, as assigned.
